Words for the Weary
Hold On to These
You are not what happened to you. You are who God says you are — chosen, loved, and held.
The darkness you are in is not your destination. It is a passage. God is walking through it with you.
You do not have to be strong enough. God's strength is made perfect in your weakness.
Your story is not over. The same God who began a good work in you will carry it to completion.
You are seen. You are known. You are loved — not because of what you have done, but because of who He is.
Prayers for the Hurting
Prayers for Every Wound
A Prayer for the Abused
Father, You see every wound — seen and unseen. To the one enduring abuse, be their shield and their refuge. Give them courage to reach for help, wisdom to recognize their worth, and strength to walk toward safety. You are a God of justice and of mercy. Heal what has been broken, and let no one remain in darkness alone. In Jesus' name, Amen.
A Prayer for Addiction
Lord, for the one bound by addiction, break every chain. Where willpower has failed, let Your grace prevail. Surround them with people who will walk alongside them. Replace the craving with Your presence, the emptiness with Your fullness, and the shame with Your forgiveness. You make all things new — begin that work today. Amen.
A Prayer for the Traumatized
Jehovah Rapha, You are the healer of wounds no one else can see. For the one haunted by memories, by nightmares, by fear — calm the storm within. Be their peace that surpasses understanding. Let Your love reach the places no human hand can touch, and bring restoration one day at a time. Amen.
A Prayer for the Lonely
Father, You are a father to the fatherless and a friend to the friendless. For the one who feels utterly alone, be their companion in the silence. Send people who will truly see them, and remind them that You are closer than their own breath. Let no one remain an island when Your love surrounds them. Amen.
A Prayer for the Lost
Lord, for the one who has lost their way — their purpose, their hope, their sense of who they are — be the light that guides them home. You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. Find them today. Speak identity over them, and lead them step by step into Your calling. Amen.
A Prayer for the Brokenhearted
Father, You are near to the brokenhearted. For the one whose heart has been shattered by grief, betrayal, or pain — hold each broken piece. You do not waste our tears. Bind up what is wounded, and let healing flow like a river through the dry and weary places of the soul. Amen.
A Prayer for the Anxious and Depressed
Lord, for the one weighed down by anxiety and darkness, be their light. Where the mind races, bring stillness. Where the spirit sinks, lift it up. Replace fear with faith, despair with hope, and isolation with the knowledge that they are deeply loved by You. Let them breathe again. Amen.
A Prayer for Freedom and Deliverance
Almighty God, You came to set the captives free. For the one trapped — in a cycle, in a relationship, in a habit, in despair — loose every chain by the power of Your name. Open doors that no one expected. Make a way where there seems to be no way. Let freedom come, and let it begin within. Amen.
Gentle Prayers for the Day
One Day at a Time
A Prayer for the Morning
Father, as this day begins, I bring You my brokenness — the wounds I carry, the memories that haunt me, the habits I cannot break alone. I do not have the strength to heal myself. But You are the God who restores. Meet me here, in this moment, and carry what I cannot. Help me take one step today. Just one. And let that be enough. Amen.
A Prayer for the Midday
Lord, the weight is heavy and the day feels long. When the old pain surfaces, when the craving calls, when the loneliness whispers — remind me that I am not my past. I am who You say I am. Be my anchor in the storm. Give me grace for this hour, and the next, and the next. One moment at a time, You are making me new. Amen.
A Prayer for the Evening
Father, I made it through another day. Thank You. For the moments of peace, for the strength I did not know I had, for the times You carried me when I could not walk — thank You. As I rest, heal the places only You can reach. Quiet my mind. Calm my heart. Let me sleep in Your peace, and wake ready to begin again. Amen.
